NOTICE TO CUSTOMERS

Notice Distributed 03/31/26 and 04/30/26:

Fats, oils and grease (FOG) are the leading cause of sewer line clogs and sewer main overflows. Clogged sewer lines can back up into houses, spill onto roadways and into our waterways, creating hazards for humans, fish and wildlife.

            PREVENT COSTLY PLUMBING REPAIRS!

·         DO pour FOG into milk containers or other packages and dispose of in your grey garbage can; NOT down sinks, toilets, external drains or storm drains.

·         DO place fat trimmings in your grey garbage can, NOT down your garbage disposal.

·         DO use a paper towel to wipe dishes and pots to remove grease prior to washing; NOT by running hot water over dishes, pans, fryers and/or griddles.

NATURAL HAZARD PLANNING AND PREPAREDNESS

BBPUD is participating in the 2026 Sonoma County Hazard Mitigation Plan to better prepare for natural disasters and participate in creating a resilient community. Bodega Bay is vulnerable to several types of natural hazards, including wildfire, earthquake, tsunami, landslides, flooding and drought.

The outcome of this planning process is to identify projects that would measurably reduce the community’s vulnerability to damage by building resiliency in our water and wastewater infrastructure. Participation in these efforts will also qualify BBPUD for federal grants that could fund some of these improvements.

NOTICE TO CUSTOMERS

Notice Distributed 12/31/25 and 01/30/26:

2026 FIRE HYDRANT TESTING & FLUSHING

 The Bodega Bay Public Utility District will test and flush fire hydrants beginning on March 1, 2026 and to be completed by March 31, 2026.

OUR GOAL:  To continue a program started several years ago to prevent buildup of sediment from District water mains.

CUSTOMER CAUTION:  Some customers may experience particles and discoloration in their water as a result of the hydrant flushing.  The water is perfectly safe to drink, but not very appealing.  The District will do what it can to minimize this problem.  Should you experience particles or discolored water, it may be necessary to clear up the situation by allowing a moderate amount of water to flow through the pipes at your home or place of business.
